DESCRIPTION:Optimo (Espacio) are the duo JD Twitch and JG Wilkes who have become renowned around the world for their memorable and ecstatic deejay sets with a unique disregard for genres and musical restrictions in their craft\, creating a nightclub experience that strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music. Their Glasgow nightclub Optimo (Espacio) at the Sub Club is widely regarded as one of the most important and ground-breaking clubs of the past two decades. \nOptimo (Espacio) are also active in their local community raising awareness and funds for local foodbanks\, refugee and anti-racist organisations\, raising over a quarter of a million pounds for various organisations in Glasgow\, and beyond. \nIn July 2025\, Optimo announced that Keith had been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. We are shocked and saddened to have heard the news regarding Keith’s (JD Twitch’s) diagnosis. Performing in both Irish and English\, he has appeared at festivals such as Belfast TradFest and featured on national television\, including TG4’s Fáilte New Year’s Eve celebrations and RTÉ music programming. Beyond singing\, Piaras is also a skilled guitarist and bouzouki player\, bringing a contemporary sensibility to traditional repertoire. Mentored by respected sean-nós artists\, he has built a reputation as one of the rising voices in Irish traditional music\, blending authenticity with a warm stage presence that resonates with audiences across Ireland. \nEoghan Ó Ceannabháin is a Dublin-based singer\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose musical\nroots are in the Conamara sean-nós singing tradition. A versatile performer\, he draws on a variety of\nvocal techniques like lilting and throat singing\, concertina playing that breathes with his singing\, and a\nlifting flute style that all combine to create a rooted\, expansive soundscape. His songs have a storytelling\nquality to them\, moving through themes of struggle\, loss\, resistance and healing\, and carried by a\npowerful and resonant voice that ranges from the intimate to the elemental. \n

SUMMARY:Moon Tell Me Truth Exhibition Launch
DESCRIPTION:The Moon Tell Me Truth exhibition\, curated by the Hands Up Project\, features 60 illustrated poems created by children from Gaza. Most are now displaced\, their homes and schools destroyed\, and at least two were killed in Israeli airstrikes. Hosted by the Museum of Free Derry\, this deeply moving exhibition gives local people the chance to read these words\, written just before their world was torn apart. A follow-up to Layan’s Steps\, it runs from 14 August.

Imprisoned\, and shot\, he was demonised and censored by dominant media as a subversive and terrorist\, yet the British and their allies were forced to recognise his legitimacy\, and negotiate the Irish peace accord\, ‘The Good Friday Agreement’\, with him and Sinn Féin. A private man\, this is the first time Adams sits down to tell his story – from a teenage activist to party leader. Today\, he is an elder statesman supporting the next generations on their path toward Irish unity.
