Wee Boat Day – Seamus Kennedy Book Celebration

‘Grace Will Lead Me Home’, chronicles Seamus Kennedy’s journey from Donegal to London in the 1980s, when Ireland faced high unemployment, mass emigration, and political violence. It paints a vivid picture of emigrant struggles—searching for work and accommodation. Interwoven are moments of love and loss, capturing the quest for stability, inevitable setbacks, and a redemptive return home. All copies sold on the day will be donated to Victim Support Donegal Northern Ireland which supports counselling for families after losing a loved one in road traffic accidents. A gathering of people at the new Saint Colmcille mural at Colmcille Court to join in singing one of the world’s great songs “Amazing Grace”, which has it’s origins in Lough Swilly and also “Back Home to Donegal.” Music afterwards at Abbey Bed and Breakfast and Grindhouse Coffee yard with Derry’s finest musicians in attendance.
